The Wine CD
Thank you for purchasing The Wine CD. We appreciate your buying our product.
The following information is presented to assist you with the use of the program
and your journey through the world of wine. Below you will find installation
instructions, starting and quitting information, interface information, how to
use the personal wine cellar section and a list of the chapters.
Installation
To install The Wine CD simply double-click the "Setup" program on the CD.
Then follow the instructions of the installation program. If you have AutoRun
enabled on your computer you will be presented with a screen indicating that you
have not yet installed the program. Click on install and the installation
program will be started for you.
The program will be installed in a your program files in a folder called "The
Wine CD". To begin using the program, click the Start button and follow the
program path of Programs->The Wine CD->WineCD. It may take a few moments to
begin the introduction sequence, this is normal. Enjoy the opening sequence the
first time but feel free to simply click the mouse button to bypass the
introduction if you have already seen it.
Starting and Quitting
The first time you launch the program you will be taken to the "Introduction"
chapter where your host Francis Dumaurier will present introductory information.
This will only happen the first time that you run the program. If you would
like to see it again click the "Introduction" button on the Main Screen.
You may feel free to go to any chapter of The Wine CD at any time. We do
recommend that if you are a beginner that you start with the chapter "What is
Wine" for a general overview of wine and a good foundation for understanding the
remaining chapters. After completing the "What is Wine" chapter the choice is
yours as each section is independant of the other.
The "Quit" button will exit the program. The first time that you click
"Quit" to exit the program you will be taken to the "Conclusion" chapter where
your host Francis Dumaurier will deliver the concluding message for The Wine CD.
After seeing the conclusion once you will need to click the "Conclusion" button
on the Main Screen to view it again as "Quit" will simply exit the program
without showing the conclusion video.
Interface
The Wine CD has a very simple interface. Just move your cursor over text,
video control buttons or wine bottle buttons and the text or graphic will
highlight yellow. If you were to click the mouse button it would change to
green and would carry out the appropriate action listed below.

My Wine Cellar
The My Wine Cellar section is where you can create your own personalized list
of wines. The first time you enter the section you will see a sample entry.
Feel free to keep or delete it, it is just an example to illustrate what can be
entered. The buttons and areas on this screen are explained below.
Current Item area:
This text area shows the information for the currently selected item in
your wine database. If a field is empty that means that there is no information
in the entry for that field.
Item Indicator area:
Below the Current Item area this indicates what the current item number is
and the total number of items in the list. When displaying found items (see
Search below) it displays the total number of found items, not the total number
of database items.
PREVIOUS
This button will display the previous item in the database, if you are not
currently on the first item.
NEXT
This button will display the next item in the database, if you are not
currently on the last item.
ADD +
This button will bring up a dialog box where you can enter in the
information for a new entry in your wine database. Vintage, Type and Winery or
Estate are required fields, the rest are optional. Click "OK" to add the entry
when you are finished entering the information, or click "Cancel" and the entry
will not be added.
DELETE -
This button will bring up a dialog box asking if you wish to delete the
displayed record. Click "Yes" and the currently displayed entry will be
deleted, click "No" and the entry will not be deleted.
SEARCH
This button will bring up a dialog box where you select what field to
search on, the type of search and the search value that the type will be applied
to. Select the search parameters you wish to use and click on the search
button. If nothing matches your search you will see a "Nothing found." error
dialog box. If your search parameters match any of the records they will be
displayed. Also, the word Found will be displayed in the item indicator box
below the current entry.
SAVE TO FILE
This button will bring up a dialog box allowing you to save the current
list, either the entire list or the found items list, to a file of your choice.
Simply type the name of the file you wish the list to be called, select the
location you wish it to be saved in and click the "Save" button. Click "Cancel"
to exit the dialog without saving.
FIND ALL
This button will find and redisplay all the items in your wine cellar
database. It will also hide the text "Found" in the item indicator box.
